Not all of scripture is about us, but all of scripture is for us.
I recall hearing this quip, which I believe is true: “Not all of scripture is about us, but all of scripture is for us” (source unknown). The old testament scriptures outline God’s creation and the introduction of himself to humanity and show how he wants to relate and use humans for his glory. He selected certain faithful people to use as His hand on earth (prophets, judges, etc.), who instituted God’s Laws and ordinances for mankind.
God used His prophets throughout scripture to carry out assignments and missions whether to warn, destroy, or liberate from captivity. It is also important to note that even in the old testament, many prophecies pointed to the coming and purpose of the son of man, Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”
