As it relates to the gospel of salvation and our spiritual walk with Jesus Christ, “the ultimate measuring stick” is the book of scriptures; known as the bible. If we don’t use the word of God as the instrument that we measure up to in our daily walk, or as a guide, we are bound to lose our way and that’s if we are not already heading in the wrong direction.
There is a war going on and it’s the battle for our souls. For those who are on the broad road to destruction and death, the enemy’s goal is to keep you comfortable on that path. On the other hand, for those who are on the narrow road which leads to eternal life with Christ, the enemy’s plan is to distract you with the hope that you will lose your way.
Whether you are on the straight and narrow or on the broad road, one thing is for sure; we are all in the middle of a spiritual warfare. The question is, are we aware of this spiritual battle, and if yes are we equipped for the fight?
One of the objectives of this platform is to create awareness, using the scriptures as our guide and to provide a spiritual environment for God fearing individuals to use as a measuring stick. In addition, this site will be supporting the Podcast named after this site to provide an audio platform aspiring to achieve the same goals and objectives over the internet and airwaves (Click on the Podcast link for more information).
A form of Church
The church is the body of Christ… and like the natural body, all its members operate and function off of the same information.
Can the body of Christ function normally if its members conflict with each other? Before answering this question, perhaps we should reflect on our natural body, and consider the consequences of such a conflict within our own body…the result is sickness and the end is death.
No wonder Paul pleaded with the folks saying: “…I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all [d]speak the same thing, and that there be no [e]divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1st Corinthians 1:10)
Individuals in the church of God vary from the classification of babes (1 Peter 2: 1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow [a]thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.), young children (can’t absorb too much at any one time), and mature children (able eat solid meat). Heb. 5: 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the [b]oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of [d]use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
1 Corinthians 3: 1-3
In the house of God only one meat is served and it’s the body of Christ, only one drink is served and it’s the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Matthew 26:26-28). As children of the most high, we should conclude that it is God’s will that we eat from the same table and drink of the same cup, feasting on the word of truth, allowing the Holy Spirit to detect and distributes nourishment according to our individual needs…line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little (Isaiah 28: 12-14). – This means that it does not matter how wide or how far the table is spread, neither does it matter how many servers there are, if this is the table prepared by God, the servers won’t have a choice but to deliver the same food given to them for the people of God. The servers in this case are the teacher of the word, the pastor, the apostle or anyone who stands to proclaim the word of God.
Therefore my brothers and sisters, if we seek to be in the body of Christ, as Paul beseeched the brethren in Corinth; I too am pleading to you my audience; to ensure that we all say the same thing pertaining to the kingdom of God and according to scriptures
I’m sure you have heard the saying from some of our relatives, friends and associates; – that It really doesn’t matter what you believe, as long as we have a personal relationship and or as long as we are worshiping the same God; that’s all that matters…This is a common lie that the devil perpetuate`… who has a relationship with someone you don’t know? better yet; Can one have a relationship with someone who they have only heard of? This is the kind of trick the enemy plays on us, causing individuals to feel comfortable and committed in a relationship based solely on their own understanding and idea of who God is; with God that really does not exist.
My family and friends; To know God is to know his word, to know God is to believe His word, to know God is to learn His ways… In Matthew 11:29 Jesus says: “Take my yoke upon me and learn of me…” So you see folks; It matters to God that you learn of Him, because it ultimately does matter what you believe of him. So don’t let anyone tell you that it does not matter what you believe.
The word of God says: “He that believeth on me as the scripture has said…” John 7:38
To believe in God is to know that a mere acknowledgement of his existence, a mere acknowledgement of his omni presence, his kindness and his love; does not constitute belief in God; carrying out or acting out religious rituals based on our personal views does not constitute belief in God. We don’t get to define whether or not we believe in God, God defines who is a believer and who is not. John 10:22-27 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. 23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. 24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in [d]doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. 26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, [e]as I said to you. 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
Now, knowing that everything we need to know about God is already written in scripture: for the purposes of this forum, I have created a short list of common truths from which we can launch our present and future conversations concerning God, and the gospel of salvation brought down to mankind by Jesus Christ.
Measurement check
This growing list is used to measure general knowledge on a wide cross section of scriptures covering Godly principles, doctrinal foundations, the laws and the prophet, disciples and apostles, sonship, the church and many other subject matter.
Each statement is deemed to be true, however based on the host interpretation of scriptures. Therefore, if or when a person disagrees with any points, you are encouraged to communicate your disagreement accordingly via email or feel free to post your comments directly on this site. The ultimate goal for this list is to provide an opportunity for a conversation starter, whether it be to discuss our mutual agreement or our disagreement on the various subjects. In the end no matter what your position might be today, our hope is that at some point in the near future, we will all be saying the same thing as it relates to Jesus Christ and what he requires of us…here goes:
1. The book of scriptures (Holy Bible) was written by men of God who were inspired/overshadowed by the Holy spirit.
2. All of scripture is for us, but not all of scripture is about us.
3. God created the heavens and the earth all by himself
4. The God of Adam, Noah, Moses, David, Job, Daniel, and all holy prophets of old, is the same God of the disciples and apostle in the new, and is our God.
5. God was manifested in the flesh hiding himself behind the veil of the sonship of Jesus Christ – (God was in Christ Jesus & Thou art a God that hidest thyself)
6. To believe in God is to do and follow as he says – John 10:22-27
7. God is not the author of confusion therefore the scriptures does not contradict itself…
8. As it was with the apostles, we too should also be teaching and saying the same thing according to the scriptures, with the only difference being in administration.
9. There is only One Lord! One Saviour! One God!
10. Heaven is real and we all should strive to enter in, by believing in God through Jesus Christ, as the scripture has said…
11. Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus was talking about us, but not to us…as such, this was “a commandment and NOT a performance”.
12. We cannot know God outside of his word, therefore all their is for us to know about God is clearly written in the scriptures.
13. While we maybe able to tell the times we are living in, and perhaps even give a proximity to the coming of God based on signs outlined in scripture, one thing is for sure; NO MAN KNOWS THE DAY NOR THE HOUR OF THE COMING OF GOD!
14. The scriptures were originally written in Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic , however Jesus before he ascended, gave the authorization for the gospel to be preached and taught in all nations and languages without contradiction. God will never leave himself without a witness, and so it is by divine will that he has his ministers in all the world; but so does the devil.
15. The Church was started by Jesus Christ before he gave the keys to the kingdom of heaven to Peter in the presence of the other disciples. He said: “whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loose in heaven”. We should therefore conclude that the authority to “bind and loose” was given only to the holder(s) of the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 16: 18-20
16. The founder of the church (Jesus Christ) has equipped the church body through his word, giving all the principles and guidelines for us to follow, nothing less and nothing more, to the extent that the word of God warned us not to add or take away from the book (Rev 22:18-20). I conclude that anything that is done in the Name of God, must be supported by scriptures.
Prov 27:17 – As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
If we build on these truths, as we earnestly contend for the faith, it won’t be long before we all are saying the same thing.
